kcorradins Want’s to know:

I 'm the procces of rifarla in my kitchen and next time to do something with my windows. First, blind color should I get? I want the blind to the faux wood and my lockers and arrangement are cherry colored and the floor is a color of oak. Convinco the blind to match the cabinets / provision or the floor? In addition, there are two small windows (at the dispersore) and a large window (in the dinning area). I would have to obtain long cover with a decorative rod for the great window and then the two small valences for the smaller ones? What look approve? Any help would be appreciated… thanks!

  1. It sounds like you have a lot of wood in yor kitchen. Wood blinds are nice but you have to be careful not to over-do it with the wood theme. I suppose it all comes down to how big your kitchen is and what colour walls you have. If you kitchen is small or has dark walls i would skip the wood blinds. If it is quite big with light walls then they will look really good. My kitchen is tiny so i brought the white aluminium blinds. Wood was my first choice, but it just would have made my house to dark and made it look smaller.

  2. I ordered roman blinds in the colors to match my kitchen decor. For me that was a soft yellow stripe. I have cherry cabinets and floors with black granite counters and gray tiling surrounding the counters. My rugs are black with yellow, gold, salmon, sage and red. I did a soft yellow stripe long curtain for my french doors in my breakfast room to match. I could have picked any of the colors in my rug however. I prefered the softer look rather than the drama. I prefer the drama to be my cabinets and stainless appliances. Choose whatever you like. But keep it consistent as opposed to different window coverings. Stay away from valances. They are dated.

  3. It sounds as if you already have quite a bit of wood in the kitchen. If your mind is set on the blinds then get them to match the flooring color. As for dressing your windows it sounds as you have a plan. Go for it. Valances ARE NOT out of style. If in fact they were outdated they wouldn’t be available in the stores both high and low end. I have a seamstress that makes quite a bit of the curtains in the houses that I decorate and valances are commonly wanted by the home owner.
