Are faux wood blinds the same as venetian blinds?

Venetian blinds, like in your grandmother’s house, are thin metal blinds with a slight curve at the top of each slat. Advantages of the venetian blinds are they last forever and you can put them in the shower to wash for a really good cleaning. The disadvantages are not much color choice and the edge of the metal slates can cut if they fall on you. Composite/plastic slats are called “faux wood” because they try to look like wood. Advantages are wider color choices and a more contemporary look. Disadvanatages are you really have to pay for them because otherwise they look really tacky and you don’t realize it until they are up and the cheapos have poor pull cords and hardware. (At some point it makes more sense to get wood blinds. “Faux” anything is just a word that sounds better than “simulated” or “pretend”, etc.)
